Assistant Technical Designer

Rivar’s is a manufacturer of custom performance apparel for youth and adult performing organizations, including show choir, concert choir/band, orchestra, and sweet adeline groups. We are looking for an assistant technical designer to execute consistent marker making and technical approval for garment production. This person will report to the Senior Pattern Maker.


  • Create consistent markers using Gerber Accumark system for orders with focus on best utilization and efficient layering
  • Cut planning, spec approval, markers and creating cut files for Gerber cutting
  • Keep Gerber files up to date and effectively manage CT’s in proprietary software system
  • Create finished size dimension charts for all patterns
  • Create technical specifications, including CAD drawings as needed for new designs
  • Manage sample/prototype development for custom designs
  • Provide new design sketches as needed for custom designs and coordinate with the account manager team to achieve the desired look for product
  • Assist the sewing production team with prototype construction and as needed sewing/production assistance during peak season
  • Assist the cutting team as needed during peak and/or off season


  • Bachelor’s degree in apparel design and textiles or equivalent work experience in related field
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Knowledge in Adobe Suite preferred
  • Experience on Gerber Accumark Pattern Design Software
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is helpful

Additional Information

  • Full-time, hourly position, including benefits. Must be able to work extended hours during peak season August – January. Flexible schedule options may be available for spring/summer months.
